The Action People’s Party (APP) dominated the elections, securing 314 out of 319 councillorship seats across the state’s 23 local government areas. However, the Rivers State PDP and APC factions have rejected the election results, claiming that no elections were held ¹ ².
Tinubu’s special adviser, Bayo Onanuga, released a statement emphasizing the president’s deep concern over the violence and urging all parties to de-escalate the situation. The president has directed the police to restore peace and order immediately and ensure the security of public institutions ¹ ².
