Lagos police are investigating a 70-year-old man for allegedly abusing his daughter.
Mr. Abiodun, a resident of No. 26, Papa-Ado Street, Agbowa community, Lagos State, was apprehended on August 29, 2024, by the Agbowa-Ejirin division for allegedly committing incest against his 14-year-old daughter.
According to the victim’s mother, Mrs. Abiodun, “My daughter disclosed that her father had been engaging in sexual abuse prior to the incident that led to his arrest.” Mrs. Abiodun further explained that upon confronting her husband, he became hostile and argumentative. In an attempt to intimidate and silence her and the victim, he put their family home up for sale, receiving partial payment from the buyer, and subsequently relocated to the Itu Kosomi community.
At the police station, a community member alleged that Mr. Abiodun had a history of sexual abuse, including an incident involving his first daughter from a previous marriage, who is now married. The victim, whose identity has been withheld, confirmed that her father had repeatedly engaged in sexual acts with her.
