Senator Nwoko Tells Gov Oborevwori: We Don’t Want You in APC

  • Rejection: Senator Ned Nwoko has stated that Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is not welcome in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
  • Confidence in APC: Nwoko expressed confidence in APC’s prospects in Delta State, assuring that the party will defeat the governor and the PDP in the 2027 general elections.
  • Governor’s Defection Rumors: There have been rumors of Governor Oborevwori’s intentions to join the APC, which his media managers have consistently denied.
  • APC’s Growing Strength: Nwoko emphasized that APC’s growing appeal is due to PDP’s alleged 25 years of corrupt governance in the state.

Senator Nwoko made the statement at a gathering attended by APC bigwigs, including Chairman Alhaji Umar Ganduje and Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo. Nwoko’s assertion was made against the backdrop of President Tinubu’s purported interest in winning Delta State in 2027. According to Nwoko, this might be the reason behind Oborevwori’s desperation to join APC. However, Nwoko emphasized that the party doesn’t need the governor’s membership to win Delta State.

Nwoko’s stance is supported by former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, who vowed that Oborevwori and his predecessor Ifeanyi Okowa will never be allowed to join APC. Despite this, the APC seems poised to gain strength in Delta State, with the recent defection of the Delta Unity Group from the PDP to the APC.
