Police in Sapele, Delta State, have arrested two women and a group of vigilantes for allegedly beating and burning a 20-year-old boy, Abubakar Yusuf. The victim was accused of stealing N400,000 from a lockup store at the Sapele Market, but it was later discovered that the true culprit was the accuser’s sister.
Abubakar was taken away by the vigilantes, beaten, and set ablaze. However, after his release, a human rights team led by Comrade Kingsley Imode took up the case and reported it to the police.
Two women and the vigilante team responsible for the brutal act are currently in custody, and the police have promised to investigate the matter and ensure justice is served. Abubakar is receiving treatment at the Sapele Central Hospital.
