Nigerian Siblings Sentenced to 17 Years in Prison for Sextortion Leading to US Teen’s Death

Two Nigerian siblings, Samuel Ogoshi (24) and Samson Ogoshi (21), have been sentenced to 17 years and six months in prison by a United States Court for their involvement in a sextortion scheme that led to the death of a 17-year-old high school student, Jordan DeMay.

The brothers, extradited from Lagos, Nigeria, were convicted of conspiring to sexually exploit multiple minors, including DeMay, who was from Michigan. They used hacked social media accounts to create fake profiles, researched their victims’ personal information, and solicited explicit images, which they used to extort money.

The scheme exploited over 100 victims, including 11 minors. The US Justice Department noted that the brothers’ actions resulted in tragic consequences, including DeMay’s death. The siblings will also undergo five years of supervised release after serving their prison sentence.
