The Israeli military is committed to utilizing all available resources to rescue the hostages still held in Gaza, as stated by military spokesman Daniel Hagari in Rafah. Hagari emphasized the importance of bringing the hostages back home, highlighting it as a key objective of the ongoing conflict. Speaking in the Tel al-Sultan neighborhood of Rafah, Hagari addressed a tunnel where six hostages were tragically killed by Hamas, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
The Israeli army’s actions have resulted in the deaths of over 41,118 individuals in Gaza, with a significant number being women and children, as reported by the territory’s health ministry. The UN human rights office has expressed concern over the high number of civilian casualties. Furthermore, Israel has restricted international media access to Gaza during the ongoing 12-month conflict.
The Israeli military also guided journalists to the Philadelphi Corridor, a crucial area in ceasefire negotiations involving Egypt, Qatar, and the United States. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed the corridor’s significance in preventing arms smuggling from Egypt into Gaza. On the other side, Hamas insists on a complete Israeli withdrawal from the region as part of the negotiations.
