Man arrested for raping mentally- unstable housewife in Ogun

Tahiru Hamidu, a resident of Owode community in Ogun State’s Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area, has been arrested for allegedly raping a mentally unstable married woman. The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest on September 17, 2024 .

According to reports, Hamidu exploited the victim’s condition to engage in non-consensual sexual intercourse multiple times before his arrest on September 12, 2024. This horrific incident highlights the vulnerability of individuals with mental health conditions to exploitation and abuse.

Another incident involved a pastor who raped a 19-year-old church member during a deliverance session .

The Ogun State Police Command’s swift action in arresting Hamidu demonstrates their commitment to justice and protecting vulnerable individuals. The case is currently under investigation, and it’s essential to ensure that justice is served to prevent such heinous crimes from occurring in the future.

The suspect was also accused of threatening to murder the survivor’s brother-in-law, known only as Shofolahan, if he did not permit him to continue r@ping his brother’s wife.

On one occasion, Hamidu, from Northern Nigeria, was accused of luring the survivor to a cassava plantation, where he allegedly r@ped her multiple times before releasing her.

The survivor is mentally incapacitated. The brother-in-law who reported the case claims that the suspect threatened to kill him to prevent him from stopping the crimes. The suspect is accused of repeatedly engaging in s@xual acts with the survivor,” the PPRO said.
