Armed robbers attacked a cattle ranch in Ogun State owned by former House of Representative member Adesegun Adekoya, injuring two farmers, including a 75-year-old man. The incident occurred on Thursday at Adekoya’s ranch in Ako village, Ago-Iwoye.
According to Ogun State Police Command spokesperson Omolola Odutola, the thieves broke into the building through the windows and attacked security guard Friday Ogan, causing a deep leg cut ¹. Adamu Idi, 75, from Ako village, was also attacked with a machete, resulting in a severe head cut.
Police responded promptly, taking the victims to Love and Care Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, none of the cows were stolen. Odutola confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspects.
This incident bears resemblance to a July 15, 2024, attack that killed maize farmer Ogar Fidelis in Ijebu-Igbo ¹. Tensions between farmers and herders in Ogun State have led to previous clashes, resulting in fatalities ².
