NDLEA Cracks Down on Drug Trafficking: Two Kingpins, Ex-Convicts Arrested

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made some significant arrests, taking down two wanted drug kingpins and two ex-convicts in various locations across Nigeria.

The Arrests:

  • Ajiboye Samuel, alias “Na God,” was apprehended in Ogun State after evading arrest for 12 months. He was initially wanted for a raid on his warehouse in Mushin, Lagos, where 1,101 kilograms of Ghana Loud were seized .
  • Alhaji Bashir Talba, a community leader, was arrested in Lagos, following the seizure of 226.2kg of cannabis at his residences in Badagry.
  • Two ex-convicts, Muhammad Machido and Zakari Buhari, were arrested in Katsina State with 51,000 opioid pills and 14 blocks of cannabis, respectively.

Other Notable Busts:

  • An automobile spare parts dealer, Ejiofor Chiwuzie, was caught attempting to export heroin and loud concealed in LED lamps and metal sofa legs to Liberia.
  • NDLEA officers foiled attempts to export tramadol pills, co-codamol tablets, and pentazocine injections to the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Thailand, and Oman.
  • Additional seizures included 9.7kg of cannabis sativa, 50 liters of “monkey tail” (a cannabis and dry gin mixture), and 132 sacks of cannabis weighing 2,062kg.

These arrests and seizures demonstrate the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and illicit activities in Nigeria ¹.
