Nigeria is celebrating its 64th Independence Day today, marking its freedom from British rule since October 1, 1960 ¹. Senator Orji Kalu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Privatisation, has congratulated President Bola Tinubu and all Nigerians on this significant occasion. He acknowledged Nigerians as hardworking and patriotic citizens, emphasizing the need for the political class to prioritize the people’s interests
Kalu, while applauding the federal government’s efforts in promoting nationhood, called on Nigerians to remain peaceful and united in their endeavors.
In a statement commemorating the 64th independence anniversary of Nigeria, Kalu stressed that the heterogeneous nature of the country should be explored for positive gains.
He said, “In marking the 64th independence anniversary of Nigeria, I call on government at all levels to embrace pro-people policies in advancing the cause of the people.
“Nigeria has made tremendous progress in building and sustaining democracy, regardless of the country’s diversity. Let us continue to embrace peace, unity, and togetherness as a nation.
“We must support and complement the efforts of the federal government in repositioning the country.”
