A devastating incident has shaken the Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria. A newlywed couple, Mr. and Mrs. Chidiebube Bartholomew, along with four others, were abducted by suspected kidnappers while driving home from their traditional wedding ceremony. The victims were traveling in a Toyota Sienna vehicle when they stopped at Nwokeisama Junction in Umulogho to greet family members. That’s when the gunmen, operating in a Lexus Jeep, struck.
The kidnappers allegedly trailed the victims from the wedding venue, opening fire and hijacking another Lexus vehicle. The victims were forced into the hijacked SUV and taken away amidst continuous gunshots. Fortunately, security operatives arrived at the scene shortly after and are now trailing the kidnappers in an attempt to rescue the victims.
This heartbreaking incident marks the fourth abduction case in the area since the local police station was attacked about five weeks ago. Previous cases occurred in Ekeja Ehume, Umuariam, and the Malaysia Market axis, fueling concerns about the growing insecurity in the region.
The police are taking action, though! Operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit have busted a kidnapping syndicate terrorizing Obinze residents .
