Tragedy struck in Enugu State as Chikwado Eze, an Onitsha-based businessman, lost his life in a bizarre ritual gone wrong. Eze sought fortification for his business trip abroad from a native doctor in Inyi, who demanded he be buried in a grave for 1.5 hours.

The deceased, accompanied by his father Uwakwe, underwent the ritual. However, upon exhumation, Eze was found weak and covered in sweat. Despite the native doctor’s incantations, he couldn’t be revived and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The police arrested the father and native doctor for interrogation. The father denied coercing his son, claiming Eze had already purchased the necessary items for the ritual.

This incident highlights concerns about harmful traditional practices and the importance of seeking help from qualified professionals.
