A tragic accident occurred in Plateau State on Monday night, October 21, 2024, resulting in the loss of 19 lives, including five Nigerian Air Force personnel. The incident involved an 18-seater bus traveling from Adamawa State to Abuja, which collided with a stationary trailer undergoing repairs at a checkpoint in Hawan Kibo community .
According to eyewitnesses, the bus suffered brake failure, causing the driver to lose control and crash into the trailer. Unfortunately, 18 people died on the spot, and one injured person succumbed to their injuries while being taken to the hospital .
The Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims, the Nigerian Air Force, and the government and people of Adamawa State. He described the accident as a “devastating loss” and a “profound tragedy” .
