A fire outbreak occurred on a small section of the Lagos Blue Line track opposite the NEPA Station, near the Eko Bridge in the Apogbon area of Lagos State, at 4:12 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, and there was no train service at the time of the incident.
The Governor of Lagos State’s spokesman, Gboyega Akosile, confirmed via his (link unavailable) handle @gboyegakosile that emergency personnel and first responders swiftly extinguished the fire. Lagosians in the area can continue with their daily activities as the situation is under control.
The Lagos Blue Line Rail Project is a 27 km railroad with 13 stations from Okokomaiko to Marina, aiming to stimulate economic growth, reduce traffic congestion, and promote public transportation.
