Senator Jimoh Ibrahim is advocating for food vouchers to support 25 million Nigerians, representing 5 million households, as a more effective solution to address hunger and food supply challenges. He believes this approach would be more impactful than the current cash transfer initiative .
The Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun, also emphasized the importance of increasing food production to combat inflation, since food accounts for 50% of the Consumer Price Index. To achieve this, the government is assisting 600,000 farmers in cultivating 1 million hectares for wheat and rice production .
