Former US President Donald Trump has created a TikTok account, marking a surprising reversal from his previous efforts to ban the Chinese-owned social media platform in the United States.
According to a report by Politico, Trump announced his presence on the app through a video featuring Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO Dana White. However, Bloomberg News has not been able to confirm the authenticity of the post, and a spokeswoman for Trump’s campaign did not respond to requests for comment outside of business hours.
Trump’s decision to join TikTok comes as a notable shift from his previous stance on the app, which he had deemed a national security risk due to its ties to the Chinese government.
