The 2020 Ondo State gubernatorial election was a significant event in Nigeria’s political landscape. Incumbent governor Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won re-election for a second term, defeating Eyitayo Jegede of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Agboola Ajayi of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

The election was marked by some controversy, with Jegede challenging the results at the Ondo State Election Petitions Tribunal. However, the tribunal ultimately dismissed Jegede’s petition for lack of merits. The PDP also appealed to the Court of Appeal and later the Supreme Court but was unsuccessful.
