President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Brazil for G20 summit

President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the 19th Heads of State and Government Summit of the Group of 20 (G20) . He was warmly received by Ambassador Breno Costa from the Ministry of External Relations of Brazil. The President is accompanied by a delegation of top officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and the Minister of Art, Tourism, Culture and Creativity, Hannatu Musawa.

During the summit, President Tinubu is expected to engage in bilateral meetings to advance Nigeria’s socio-economic reforms. The 2024 G20 summit, hosted by Brazilian President Lula da Silva, will focus on building a just and sustainable world, with a three-point agenda to combat hunger, poverty, and inequality. The summit will also address pressing global issues, such as rising global temperatures, digital economy principles, and conflicts like the Israel-Hamas war .

Nineteen member countries, including Argentina, Australia, China, and the US, will attend the summit. As part of the African Union’s representation, President Tinubu’s attendance is significant, especially since the Brazilian presidency aims to eliminate extreme poverty by 2030 through food security initiatives .

The summit is scheduled to take place from November 18 to 19.
