Wike approves N1.1 billion compensation for owners of buildings demolished for Kuje-Airport road project

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has given the green light for a N1.1 billion compensation package to support property owners affected by the Airport Road to Kuje expressway construction project. This decision came after Wike’s personal inspection of the 13 buildings marked for demolition along the road corridor .

The Airport Road to Kuje expressway is a significant project, aiming to improve connectivity in the region with a six-lane dual carriage expressway . Wike emphasized the importance of swift action, ensuring the N1.1 billion is made available immediately to prevent delays. He also expressed satisfaction with the progress of related projects, including the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal and the feeder road, Asuquo Okon Road .

Project Timelines:

  • Court of Appeal Complex: Expected completion and handover in September 2025
  • Asuquo Okon Road (Road CN8): Anticipated delivery in May 2025, including adjoining roads within the sector centre in Daki Biyu District

Wike’s inspection and subsequent approval demonstrate the government’s commitment to advancing infrastructure development in the region while supporting affected property owners.
