The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reported that vandals have disrupted repair work on its Ahoada-Yenagoa 132 Kilo Volt (kV) line, which was previously vandalized. The latest attack, which occurred on Tuesday, affected towers 29 to 31, resulting in the theft of approximately one-third of the conductor.
According to TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, a team of engineers has inspected the site and preliminary findings indicate that the incident occurred at night. To prevent further theft, local security has been engaged to secure the site until repairs are completed.
The TCN has also reported that earlier in November, vandals attacked transmission towers in the Okada and Ofosu communities along the 330 kV Benin-Egbin and Benin-Omotosho transmission lines, affecting 31 towers.
