Only 45,835 HIV Patients on ART in Plateau – Commissioner

The Plateau State government has raised concerns over the low number of HIV patients on Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) in the state. According to the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cletus Shurkuk, only 45,835 HIV patients are currently on ART in Plateau State. This number is alarming, considering the state’s population and the importance of ART in managing HIV.

Dr. Shurkuk emphasized the need to address the continued stigmatization and discrimination of people with HIV, which is hindering efforts to stem the tide of the disease. He called for inclusive healthcare access, comprehensive education about HIV/AIDS, and an end to stigmatization and discrimination.
