The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Lagos State University (LASU) chapter, has declared an indefinite strike to protest the non-implementation of the Federal Government-approved salary increment of 25%/35% for members since January 2023.
ASUU-LASU has advised students to disregard the release by the LASU management and Students’ Union body that activities have continued in LASU despite the strike. According to ASUU, the strike is also to protest the salary disparity between LASU staff and those of Lagos State University of Science and Technology and the Lagos State University of Education.
The union has appealed to students to display a high sense of maturity, solidarity, and understanding in this matter. ASUU-LASU has also reminded students that they have no stake in the matter and should not allow themselves to be used in a matter that does not directly concern them.
