APC Stakeholders Strategize to Defeat Adeleke with Osun-West Candidate

  • APC stakeholders in Osun State are pushing for the party’s ticket to be zoned to Osun West senatorial district to defeat Governor Ademola Adeleke in 2026.
  • The stakeholders submitted a letter to the party leadership, urging equity in power distribution in the state.
  • They believe a candidate from Osun West is the party’s best chance at winning, citing the district’s lack of representation since 1999.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Osun State are making a strategic move to reclaim power in the state by zoning the party’s ticket to Osun West senatorial district. This decision is aimed at defeating Governor Ademola Adeleke in the 2026 elections.

Obafemi Amoo, Coordinator of the Coalition of Osun APC Interest Groups (COAIG), emphasized that the party’s chances of winning lie in selecting a candidate from Osun West. He noted that the district has been overlooked since 1999, while Osun East and Central senatorial districts have had their fair share of governance.

The Case for Osun West

  • Lack of Representation: Osun West has not had a governor since 1999.
  • Equity in Power Distribution: The stakeholders are pushing for fairness in power distribution among the senatorial districts.
  • Winning Strategy: The APC believes a candidate from Osun West is crucial to defeating Governor Adeleke.

By zoning the ticket to Osun West, the APC hopes to harness the district’s potential and secure a victory in the 2026 elections.
