Senator David Jimkuta, representing Taraba South, has urged politicians to always remember their primary support base and constituents, regardless of their newfound status in life. Speaking at the Nigeria Law School, Bwari in Abuja, Jimkuta recalled his days as an Okada rider (commercial motorcyclist) and how it has shaped his approach to politics.

Jimkuta praised the FCT Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, for donating seven vehicles to the school and flagging off the construction of 10 sets of 4-bedroom bungalows for staff. He noted that the minister’s actions demonstrate a commitment to giving back to his alma mater and primary constituency.

The senator’s comments come from a place of personal experience. Jimkuta had previously won the APC nomination for the Taraba South senatorial seat, polling 170 votes to defeat his rival, Danjuma Shiddi. However, his name was not submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and Shiddi’s name was submitted instead.

Despite the challenges he faced, Jimkuta persevered and eventually became the senator representing Taraba South. His experiences have taught him the importance of staying connected to one’s community and primary constituency.
