Alhaji Abubakar Galadima, a leader of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), has countered Senator George Akume’s assertion that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock in 2027. Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), had stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has to complete two tenures in office.
Galadima dismissed Akume’s statement, suggesting that the SGF was only trying to protect his job. The NNPP leader’s comments come amid a wave of defections by federal lawmakers from opposition parties to the All Progressives Congress (APC), which appears to be boosting the APC’s chances in the 2027 polls.
