Agro-Cargo Airport 95% Complete, Receives Approval for Chartered Flights

The Ogun State government has made significant progress in completing the Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport, with the project nearing its final stages. According to the state’s Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr Ade Akinsanya, the airport is 95% complete and has received approval for chartered flights.

The airport’s impressive features include the longest runway in Nigeria, measuring 4 kilometers long and 60 meters wide. The runway is designated as 4E, with the only higher designation being 4F. Akinsanya noted that the runway is completed and has received positive feedback as the best runway in Nigeria.

In terms of completion rate, Akinsanya estimated that the airport is 95% complete, with the permanent terminal building being the only remaining component. The terminal building is about 90% complete, and the state is working with partners, including the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), to ensure everything is functional.

The approval for chartered flights is a significant milestone for the airport, and the state government is optimistic about its potential to drive economic growth and development in the region.
