Despite Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s recent slash of the ex-pot price of petrol to N899.50 per litre, the minimum pump price of petrol remains N1,025 per litre. Most petrol stations in Lagos have retained the old price range, while some major oil marketers sell at N1,070 and independent marketers sell as high as N1,100.
The National President of the Oil and Gas Services Providers Association of Nigeria (OGSPAN), Maxi Colman Obasi, has called on marketers to reciprocate Dangote Refinery’s price reduction by ensuring consumers benefit from it. An industry expert also noted that the market has been deregulated, and the price of crude oil has fallen, which should force the price of petrol to drop.
Dangote Refinery had announced the price reduction, stating that it was offering a holiday discount on petrol to alleviate transport costs during the holiday season. The refinery expressed its gratitude to Nigerians for their continued support as the country enters the festive season.
