President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given a directive to the Defence Ministry to eradicate banditry activities in the Northwest zone by 2025. This announcement was made by the Minister of State Defence, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, while addressing supporters of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Gusau, Zamfara state.
Matawalle emphasized that President Tinubu is deeply concerned about the security situation in the Northwest zone, particularly in Zamfara state. The president has ordered the procurement of military equipment, including APCs, warplanes, and sophisticated weapons, to aid in the fight against terrorists. Some of these military assets have already begun arriving in the country.
The Minister of State Defence stressed that the federal government is committed to ending banditry activities in the Northwest zone. He urged citizens to take the issue of insecurity seriously, regardless of their political affiliations, as bandits do not discriminate based on party affiliations.
Matawalle assured the public that President Tinubu has good intentions to improve the country and appealed to the people of Zamfara to support and pray for the success of the president’s reform agenda.
