A 27-year-old man, Ayeni Gbenga, has been remanded in an Ado-Ekiti correctional centre for allegedly raping his wife’s 14-year-old sister. The Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court ordered his remand pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) .
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, Gbenga committed the offence between October and December in Ado-Ekiti. He allegedly defiled the girl multiple times, checking into a hotel with her whenever he took her to school. This act contravenes Section 265 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The court adjourned the case until January 27, 2025, for mention. Gbenga’s plea was not taken during the proceedings.
