A tragic incident occurred in Sokoto State on Wednesday when a fighter jet mistakenly bombed two communities in Silame Local Government Area. The jet, targeting Lakurawa jihadists in the Surame forest, dropped bombs on innocent villagers in Gidan Bisa, Gitta Rana, and Runtuwa villages, killing and injuring many.
According to residents, the villagers were sitting peacefully outside their homes when the bombs were dropped. The chairman of Silame Local Government, Abubakar Mohammed Daftarana, confirmed the attack and stated that his council is still assessing the scale of damage caused by the aerial bombardment.
Governor Ahmed has condoled with the families of the victims and urged pilots to maintain professionalism and ensure accuracy in their operations to avoid hitting wrong targets and harming innocent civilians.
