    Joint security forces, led by the Anambra State Police Command, have successfully dismantled a camp allegedly operated by unknown gunmen in Nimo community, Njikoka Local Government Area. The camp, located in Owa Land, was reportedly used as a launchpad for attacks and a hideout for kidnapping victims .

    Community leaders had petitioned authorities, concerned about unfamiliar individuals in the area, leading to soldiers patrolling the area. Acting on intelligence, security operatives launched an assault on the camp on December 24, 2024, resulting in an intense gun battle.

    The State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the operation, stating that 19 unexploded improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered, and fleeing suspects suffered significant injuries. The operation was based on credible intelligence and information from arrested suspects .

    The Anambra State Commissioner of Police commended the synergy among security agencies and the public for providing actionable intelligence. He emphasized the need for continued collaboration to sustain security during and after the festive season. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
