  • The Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, confirmed that the federal government has provided most of the necessary documentation for Ekpa’s extradition.

The Nigerian government has taken a significant step towards bringing Simon Ekpa, a pro-Biafra agitator, to justice. According to the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, the federal government has submitted most of the requirements for Ekpa’s extradition from Finland.

Ekpa, a Finnish-based secessionist, was arrested by Finnish law enforcement on November 21 for spreading terrorist propaganda on social media. A district court in Päijät-Häme subsequently sent him to prison.

The extradition process is now underway, with the Nigerian government providing the necessary documentation to the Finnish authorities. However, it remains to be seen whether Finland will grant the extradition request, as some commentators have expressed doubts about the Nigerian justice system’s ability to ensure a fair trial.
