A couple in Rivers State has been arrested for allegedly raping and brutally assaulting a 13-year-old girl in their Port Harcourt residence. The wife is accused of stripping the teenager, inserting pepper into her private parts, and beating her mercilessly with a machete after accusing her of having sexual intercourse with her husband .
According to the mother of the victim, Goodness, the assault occurred on December 29, 2024. She explained that her daughter was taken to the couple’s house by a female neighbor, who is a friend of the wife, on December 25, 2024. The man allegedly raped the teenager multiple times, threatening her to remain silent .
The couple has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for investigation and possible prosecution. Prince Wiro, the National Coordinator of the Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, has condemned the alleged torture, calling it inhumane and barbaric .
