President-elect Donald Trump’s sentencing in the hush money case has been scheduled for January 10 by a New York judge. This development comes just 10 days before Trump’s White House inauguration on January 20. Judge Juan Merchan, who presided over Trump’s trial, has indicated that he is not inclined to impose jail time on the former president.

Trump was convicted in May of 34 counts of falsifying business records related to an alleged scheme to hide a hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in 2016. The case centered on how Trump accounted for reimbursing his personal attorney, Michael Cohen, for the Daniels payment.

The sentencing decision marks a significant milestone in the case, which has garnered widespread attention due to Trump’s involvement. Despite the conviction, Trump has maintained his innocence, claiming that the verdict was the result of a “witch hunt” pursued by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
