The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has strongly condemned the alleged assassination attempt on the life of Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, representing Kaduna Central senatorial district. According to Hon. Maria Dogo, Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Kaduna State, the incident occurred on January 1, 2025, while Senator Usman was inspecting ongoing constituency projects in Kaduna North LGA ¹.

The PDP has demanded an immediate investigation into the matter, as well as the arrest and prosecution of the assailants and their sponsors. The party has also urged reinforced security measures for elected representatives and their families.

In a statement, the PDP emphasized that the party will not stand idly by while the lives of its elected representatives are threatened or taken. The party reiterated that the ballot, not violence, is the only accepted means of transferring power.

The Kaduna State Police Command has also ordered a full-scale investigation into the alleged assassination attempt, according to Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu ¹.
