Customs Recruitment: Over 573,000 Applicants Jostle for 3,927 Jobs

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that it received 573,519 applications for its 2024/2025 recruitment exercise, just a week after opening the portal. This massive response comes after Finance Minister Olawale Edun confirmed that the Federal Government approved the recruitment of 3,927 officers into the NCS.

According to Abdullahi Maiwada, the NCS National Public Relations Officer (PRO), the applications are for two categories of officers: support staff, who are professionals, and general duty officers. The breakdown of applications is as follows:

  • Superintendent Cadre (General Duty): 249,218 applicants
  • Superintendent Cadre (Support Staff): 27,722 applicants with HNDs and university degrees
  • Inspector Cadre: 115,634 applicants for general duty and 12,952 for support staff
  • Customs Assistant Cadre: 153,593 applicants for general duty and 14,400 for support staff

These applicants will be competing for the limited 3,927 positions available in the NCS.
