The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has expressed his support for Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, to become the next Governor of Lagos State. In an interview, Olawande described Seyi as his leader and mentor, and highlighted his capacity to lead Lagos State.
According to Olawande, Seyi’s age should not be a barrier to his potential governorship. He cited Seyi’s experience in empowering young Nigerians, even before his father became president, as evidence of his leadership abilities.
The conversation around Seyi’s potential governorship has been ongoing since late last year, when the socio-political organization, Friends of Seyi Tinubu (FOST), endorsed him for the position. However, Seyi himself has neither confirmed nor denied any political ambitions ahead of the 2027 general election.
Olawande emphasized that Seyi has nothing to do with the endorsement by groups campaigning for him to become governor. He noted that public figures often find themselves subjects of speculation, and that everyone has the right to aspire to any position.
