At least 49 Higher National Diploma final-year students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic may face expulsion due to allegations of using fake National Diploma results to gain admission into the institution’s HND programs. The affected students, who are from various departments such as Mass Communication, Pharmaceutical Technology, and Computer Science, were identified through a result verification process.
According to the institution’s Public Relations Officer, ‘Yemi Ajibola, the verification process is part of the institution’s efforts to authenticate documents submitted by admitted students. Ajibola noted that the students with fake results will not be immediately expelled, but will be given the opportunity to defend their results before final action is taken.
This development comes after the institution announced the indefinite closure of the polytechnic over a planned protest by the students. However, the Polytechnic management has since reinstated the Students Union Executive Council, which was earlier dissolved, following the intervention of the institution’s Governing Council.
