A gruesome double murder has shaken the Amai community in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State. A 70-year-old man, Mr. Aghanti, and his 50-year-old daughter, Mrs. Atagoshi, a secondary school teacher, were beheaded over a land dispute.
According to the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, the suspect lured the victims into the bush by pretending to want to resolve the land issue. The suspect then killed and beheaded them. Vigilantes later apprehended a man identified as Emeke, who was found in possession of the victims’ heads. Emeke was lynched and set ablaze by an angry mob.
The recovered heads were confirmed to belong to the father and daughter. However, the main suspect remains at large, and police efforts are underway to apprehend him. The incident highlights the escalating violence over land disputes in the region.
