- NCC approves 50% tariff hike for telecom operators
- Decision aims to address rising operational costs
- New tariffs to remain within 2013 Cost Study limits
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has given telecom operators the green light to increase tariffs by up to 50%. This move is meant to help operators cope with rising operational costs.
The NCC made this decision after talks with stakeholders and considering the significant gap between costs and current tariffs. The new tariffs will still follow the rules set out in the 2013 Cost Study and the 2024 Guidance on Tariff Simplification.
Operators are urged to be transparent when implementing the new rates and to improve their services. The NCC acknowledges that Nigerians are facing economic pressure.
