Tinubu Appoints Ex-INEC Chairman Jega as Special Adviser on Livestock Reforms

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Attahiru Jega, former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as Special Adviser and Coordinator of the Presidential Livestock Reform. This move aims to drive progress in the livestock sector and support national development.

Jega’s appointment was announced by Tinubu’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday. As Special Adviser, Jega will build on his experience co-chairing the Presidential Livestock Committee with Tinubu. The committee recommended key reforms, including the creation of a Livestock Ministry, to address challenges in the sector.

Jega, a former vice chancellor of Bayero University, also serves as pro-chancellor of Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education in Kano and is a member of the International Elections Advisory Council. He previously chaired INEC from 2010 to 2015.
