A fire broke out at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso, destroying property worth millions of naira. The fire affected the Emergency and Accident unit of the hospital and started around 5 a.m. in a pediatric consultant’s office, allegedly caused by an electrical spark.
Sixteen patients were evacuated from the ward to ensure their safety. The hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Omotayo Ogunleye, confirmed the incident and stated that normal operations have resumed at the facility. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
