Biobarakumo Gamade, a man from Bayelsa State, has been arrested by the police for faking his own kidnapping and demanding N10 million from his brother. He didn’t act alone, though – his accomplice, Frank Thompson, was also apprehended on Tuesday, November 5th, after they received N2 million ransom .

Apparently, Gamade’s brother, Mr. Gemade Esua Igoniamine, reported the alleged kidnapping to the police in October, prompting a search operation. However, surveillance cameras didn’t capture any evidence of the kidnapping or the escape route .

The police received a distress call claiming a black jeep with military personnel was involved, but no such vehicle was found. Later, a caller demanded N10 million ransom, which led the anti-kidnapping team to track down Thompson through the paid ransom .

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to staging the kidnapping to collect ransom. Initially, they demanded N10 million but settled for N2 million, which ultimately led to their capture at a hotel outside the state .

The Commissioner of Police, Alonyenu Francis Idu, praised the community and partners for helping to combat crime and promised to continue making Bayelsa a safer place .
