A tragic accident has occurred in Ebonyi State, claiming the life of a female prospective corps member who was on her way to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Afikpo North Local Government Area. The deceased was among 12 prospective corps members traveling in a 14-seater bus that was involved in the accident .
According to reports, the bus collided with a parked truck, resulting in the death of the female corps member from injuries sustained. Her colleagues and other passengers sustained various degrees of injuries and were rescued by residents and security agencies before being rushed to the hospital .
The Ebonyi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Igwe Henry, confirmed the accident, stating that it occurred around 2 pm on Wednesday at Amenu village in Okposi. He noted that the crash involved a Toyota commercial bus and a Mercedes-Benz tipper truck .
The NYSC State Coordinator, Foluke Oladeinde, also confirmed the accident, but was too distraught to provide further details. The incident has left many in shock, and an investigation is likely to follow to determine the cause of the accident.
