The Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has launched a portal enabling direct requests and payments for fuel from members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN). This development has led to a reduction in fuel prices in Abia State.
According to Mazi Oliver Okolo, Executive Chairman of IPMAN’s Aba branch, the improved supply flow from NNPC has resulted in fuel prices decreasing from N1300-N1350 to N1150-N1200. Okolo attributed the price reduction to the direct supply chain from NNPC and expressed optimism that prices would decline further.
“The supply flow from NNPC has improved, and we believe it will go down further,” Okolo stated. “As of last Saturday, NNPC opened their portal for us to request and pay, which we have done.”
Okolo emphasized the importance of rehabilitating the Aba depot to ensure sustainable fuel supply. He suggested collaboration between NNPC, the state government, and the federal government to achieve this goal.
Once the Aba depot is operational, Okolo predicts fuel prices will drop to N900-N1000 per liter. He thanked Governor Alex Otti for awarding the contract to rehabilitate the Osisioma-NNPC-Ekeakpara road.
The direct supply initiative aims to stabilize fuel prices, enhance supply chains, and benefit consumers in Abia State.
