The appellate court affirmed the decision of the Osun State High Court, which had earlier convicted Adedoyin and sentenced him to death.
Adegoke had lodged at Adedoyin’s Hilton Hotels and Resorts in Ile-Ife, Osun State, before he went missing and was found dead buried in a shallow grave. The police investigation led to Adedoyin’s conviction.
The Court of Appeal’s judgment read, “The judgment of the High Court of Osun State stands. Adedoyin’s appeal is dismissed in part.” However, the court quashed the order of forfeiture of Hilton Hotel and the order of education scholarship to children of Timothy Adegoke by Adedoyin and others .
