Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has strongly condemned the military honours accorded to Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, describing it as a desecration of Nigeria’s long-standing military traditions. Atiku called for an immediate investigation into the incident, which he labelled a gross violation of protocol.
Atiku argued that such honours are reserved for designated public officials and accused the group, known as the “Nigeria Cadet Network,” of undermining the sanctity of the Armed Forces. He questioned the legitimacy of the group, pointing out that preliminary investigations revealed it is not a recognised entity within the Nigerian military.
The former Vice President expressed concern over the group’s use of firearms, especially given the country’s ongoing battle against illegal arms proliferation.
