UEFA has decided that Barcelona will have to compete in their next Champions League away match without their supporters and pay a 10,000-euro ($11,000) fine following a racist banner incident.
The fans unfurled a “Flick Heil” sign, reminiscent of the Nazis’ “Sieg Heil,” in support of their German coach Hansi Flick during the match against Monaco on September 19.
“The club stated, ‘FC Barcelona rejects any form of violence,’ emphasizing their commitment to upholding the sanction imposed by UEFA,” as mentioned in the club’s official statement.
FC Barcelona reject any type of justification for violence,” the club said in a statement, adding it “will both comply with and apply this sanction”.
