Blackout in Abuja, as TCN Begins Maintenance

  • The maintenance will affect areas such as Gwagwalada and environs on Saturday, and Wuye, EFCC, Federal Medical Centre, and others on Sunday.
  • The TCN has assured that the maintenance is necessary to ensure reliable power supply in the long run.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has informed residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to expect temporary blackouts in some areas due to planned maintenance exercises at two transmission substations. According to the General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the maintenance will be carried out on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, the maintenance will affect areas such as Gwagwalada and environs from 9 am to 1 pm. The TCN will be working on a 60MVA power transformer and its associated switch gears at the Gwagwalada 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation.

On Sunday, the maintenance will affect areas such as Wuye, EFCC, Federal Medical Centre, Coca-Cola, Idu Railway Station, Citec, and Life Camp from 9 am to 10 pm. The TCN will be working on one of the 60MVA power transformers at the Kukwaba 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
