A Lagos State High Court has sentenced Andrew Ominikoron, a 47-year-old BRT driver, to death by hanging for the murder of 22-year-old fashion designer Bamise Ayanwola. The court found Ominikoron guilty of rape, conspiracy, sexual assault, and murder.

According to the charge, the crime occurred on February 26, 2022, near the Lekki-Ajah Conservation Expressway. Ominikoron allegedly conspired with others to rape and murder Bamise after picking her up at the Chevron bus stop.

The convict had pleaded not guilty but later testified that he had illegally picked up Bamise on the day of the incident. The court delivered the judgment on Friday, May 2, 2025, after a trial that lasted for over two years.
